Engaging Defence & Security Actors in Water Security

The role of defence and security actors in climate security is the subject of a growing body of research. Their role in water security has been underexplored, so HCSS’s new policy brief on the topic is timely. Grateful to have had a chance to contribute to the brief and moderate a related panel at their November Water, Peace & Security Symposium “From Fragility to Resilience: Engaging Defence and Security Actors in Water Security”. As climate and environmental pressures continue to grow, the role of these actors will continue to evolve; thinking ahead will be critical to leveraging the capacity of the defence and security sectors while managing the risks of their involvement.
